About Us
On March 27, 2020, Trooper Nolan Sanders was tragically killed in a motor vehicle collision while performing his duties with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Trooper Sanders possessed a deep and unwavering passion for serving his community—not only as a State Trooper, but also as a dedicated Volunteer Firefighter. He proudly served with the Dudley Fire Department before continuing his service with the Indian Springs Fire Department. In addition, he was a faithful and active member of Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Trooper Sanders is survived by his wife, Alexis, and their daughter Laney, along with his parents, Angie and Tommy Sanders; his sister and brother-in-law, Kelsea and John Walters; and his cherished niece and nephew, Ataly and Cruz Walters. In honor of Trooper Sanders’ life, sacrifice, and commitment to serving others, his widow, Alexis, founded the Trooper Nolan Sanders Foundation in 2021. With the generous support of donors and community partners, the Foundation has contributed more than $200,000 toward supporting those who serve and protect our communities. These efforts include providing mortgage assistance to the grieving families of fallen law enforcement officers, offering financial support to injured law enforcement officers, supplying uniforms for students enrolled in Emergency Medical Services training programs, and awarding multiple scholarships to high school students pursuing careers as first responders. Through these initiatives, the Trooper Nolan Sanders Foundation strives to carry forward Nolan’s legacy of selflessness, service, and compassion—ensuring that those who dedicate their lives to protecting others are supported, honored, and never forgotten.
